AUSTAR for schools is all about our dedication to regional Australia. Kids are our future and AUSTAR for schools is our way of giving back to regional Australians and providing a service that children can benefit from.
This month, Rugby League legend and Fox Sports commentator, Laurie Daley will be travelling to schools in regional New South Wales as part of the AUSTAR for schools Sports Month in September. Laurie Daley along with experienced coaches from Australian Rugby League Development (ARLD) and Country Rugby League (CRL) will be visiting schools and providing professional rugby league clinics and healthy lifestyle assemblies for school students at schools in Ulladulla, Shoalhaven Heads and Oak Flats. Australian Rugby League Development and Country Rugby League are committed to delivering a variety of high quality rugby league experiences for both boys and girls at the grass roots level. The clinics teach students about a sensible approach to a healthy lifestyle, and ensure a positive rugby league experience through fun practical sessions.
AUSTAR for schools will present each partcipating school with a $2000 grant upon completion of the clinic. This grant is to be used by the school to purchase sporting resources for students.

At the early age of 17, Laurie left the small country town of Junee to make his football debut with the Canberra Raiders. In his first grade debut he scored two tries against Western Suburbs. While playing for Canberra he made four Grand Finals and three Premierships.
He Captained NSW to three State of Origin victories in 1992, 1993 and 1994. His record is outstanding - 21 test matches for Australia 1990/1999, 2 Kangaroo Tours 1990 & 1994, 23 Origin games for NSW 1989-1999 and over 244 premiership Matches 1987-2000.
Laurie was also the Dally M Player of the year 1995 and the Dally M player's player in 1996.
Laurie is a key member of the FOX SPORTS NRL commentary team and is also co-host on NRL on FOX.
