AUSTAR for Schools News and Media Month April 2009

schools activity

AUSTAR for schools is all about our dedication to regional Australia. Kids are our future and AUSTAR for schools is our way of giving back to regional Australians and providing a service that children can benefit from.

This month Sky News and AUSTAR will be bringing popular Sky News presenter, Celina Edmonds to schools in regional Victoria as part of the AUSTAR for schools News and Media Month. Celina has worked in the media for 17 years and has worked at Sky News for approximately 4 years hosting Sky News First Edition with Terry Willesee. Celina began her career in regional newspapers in country New South Wales. Celina will share her background with a presentation to students about how she became a presenter for Sky News and opportunities to get involved in the television and media industry. Celina will also share some of her favourite news stories while working at Sky News. Students will also have the opportunity to compile a ‘local news’ story that showcases something of interest in their local community.

AUSTAR for schools will present each school visited with a $2000 grant upon completion of the workshop. This grant is to be used by the school for educational and media resources for the students.
